Gregory Itzin is a popular Emmy Award Nominated American actor probably currently best recognised for his role as ‘President Logan’ in the hit 24 series ‘24’ Starring Kiefer Sutherland.
Gregory was born on April 20th 1948. He originally trained to become a theatre actor at the ‘American Conservatory Theatre’ in San Francisco but after appearing in many different productions and even receiving a Tony Award for the play ‘The Kentucky Cycle’ he soon found himself falling into various roles in popular TV shows.
In 2004 Itzin had a small role in the teen TV show ‘The OC’ as Stephen Herbert and from there he went on to appear in several more cult series such as Joss Whedon’s short lived but brilliant ‘Firefly’, ‘Friends’ ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ and he has had five different roles in ‘Star Trek’. His first appearance in Star Trek came in 1993, in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Dax" and his most recent was as Admiral Black in Star Trek Enterprise.
However, it was Gregory Itzin’s appearance in the hit TV series ‘24’ which has brought him the most attention recently as he played the reoccurring role of ‘President George Logan’. He joined the show in season four and soon became a huge part of the main storyline leading to appearances in more seasons and a regular spot on the show. For his role as President Logan he received an Emmy Award nomination for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series’.
Gregory Itzin currently lives in LA with his wife Judie who is an artist. The couple have two children together; Will (born 1986) and daughter Julia (born 1983).
Gregory is very laid back and not at all like some of the more serious characters he often portrays on screen. He has three piercings in his left ear lobe and has been known to wear red white and blue studs in them to represent the American flag.
